What’s the difference between CityHome and the RUNWAY 1331 youth hostel?
Both sit inside RUNWAY 1331, but they work differently. The village youth hostel charges by the night and suits short stays. CityHome is monthly youth accommodation: you sign by the month and the room stays yours, which suits people studying, working or making things in Hong Kong. This site covers the monthly apartments.
Who can apply?
CityHome is aimed at young people living in Hong Kong — local and incoming students, early-career workers, freelancers and small startup teams. For whether applications are currently open, whether any priority applies, and what documents you’ll need, contact us directly — these arrangements change over time, so take our answer as the current one.
How much is rent, and is there a deposit?
Rent depends on the layout and the length of the lease, and CityHome doesn’t publish a rate card online — deposits and fees are set in the contract. Contact us with the layout and move-in date you want and we’ll give you a full quote covering rent, deposit and everything else, with nothing left unexplained.
What’s the shortest lease? Can I stay short-term?
CityHome lets by the month; check the minimum term with us. If you only need a night or two, the village’s nightly youth hostel is what you’re after instead.
How do I book a viewing?
Fill in the booking form on this site with your name, a phone or WhatsApp number, the layout you want to see and when suits you, and we’ll confirm. You can also email contact@mail.cityhome.hk directly.
The rooms
What comes with the room? Do I need to buy furniture?
No. All four layouts come furnished: bed, desk and chair, wardrobe and storage, air conditioning, a fridge, a washing machine and a private bathroom of your own. Bring a suitcase and move in.
Are the bathroom and washing machine shared?
No. Every unit has its own bathroom, and the washing machine and fridge are inside the room — nothing to share and nothing to queue for.
How do I choose between the four layouts?
Living alone but want sleeping and studying kept apart? Classic Single A, with its sofa-and-table corner. Prefer an open, linear room? Type B. Moving in with a friend and splitting rent? The Twin. Need somewhere to work and receive people at any hour? The Studio Office.
How are utilities and internet billed?
Check how utilities and internet are billed with us before you sign — we’ll set them out alongside the rent, with no charges left unexplained.
Can I keep a pet?
Check the pet policy with us before you plan around it — arrangements can differ by layout and floor.
The village
How do I get to the MTR?
A free village shuttle runs to and from the MTR; times and routes follow the village schedule. There’s shared-bike parking on site — scan and ride — and the harbour promenade will walk you into the surrounding area.
What is there to do in the village?
There are basketball and pickleball courts and a skate park, a 680-metre culture, sport and arts street running through the site, plus culture and arts districts and creative studios. A retired aircraft sits on the lawn beside the RUNWAY 1331 letters — the easiest landmark to find.
This was an isolation facility — does it still feel temporary?
The site was converted from the 2022 Kai Tak community isolation facility, and the buildings are modular. The rooms themselves have been fitted out since — furnished, with their own bathrooms — and outside, the blocks have been repainted and given external stairs and sports courts. Less a temporary structure than a site put back to use. The quickest way to judge is to come and see a room.
